Solar panels for London terraces, semis and detached houses.
Terraces, semis, extensions and detached homes across Greater London can all have usable solar potential. The first step is checking the roof, shading, access and ownership, then designing around what is actually available.

Four checks on every London roof.
Solar, storage and charging, designed around the roof you have.
Solar Panels
High-output panels and a layout drawn up around dormers, chimneys and awkward slopes, so each position on a smaller roof earns its place.
Battery Storage
Carries daytime solar into the evening, which suits households that are away, or at a desk in a spare room, while the panels generate.
EV Charging
A home charger where parking and access allow it, fitted on a separate circuit and able to favour your own solar over grid power.
It is not whether London is sunny enough. It is whether this roof works.
Solar works across the UK. In London the bigger questions are how much roof you can use, how much shade the neighbouring buildings cast, how equipment gets up there and how much electricity the household uses. Those are the things we check first.

Make each panel position count.
A terrace slope broken up by a dormer or a loft extension leaves less to work with, so the choice of panel and the layout matter more. A higher-output panel produces more from each position, and a layout that works around the obstacles keeps the total worthwhile.
Your roof check shows the options for your roof, with the rating of each panel and the expected yearly output stated, so the trade-offs are plain.
Freeholder, leasehold or conservation area?
London has more of these than most places, and we do not pretend they do not matter. We say what is likely to apply, and what needs confirming, before you spend time on a design.
Freehold house
You normally decide for yourself, subject to planning rules and any conservation controls.
Leasehold or flat
The lease and the freeholder usually have a say over the roof, so consent comes first.
Conservation area or listed
Extra rules can apply, and listed buildings always need their own consent.
Nothing here is guaranteed from a distance. We check your address and tell you plainly what we know and what still needs an answer.
Do not let the upfront number end the conversation too early.
If the roof works, ask what qualifying monthly-payment and no-upfront options are available before deciding whether the project fits the household budget. The figures come after the roof check, so they are about your actual system.
Buy it outright
One payment for the project and the system is yours from the day it is fitted.
Pay monthly
Fixed instalments each month, if you qualify. Choosing a longer term shrinks each instalment but raises what you pay in total.
No upfront, or 0%
A few qualifying households can start with nothing to pay at the outset, and brief 0% promotions occasionally apply to selected products. We go through both once the roof is confirmed.
Installing nearby can simplify logistics.
Enter your postcode and we can confirm whether any active local installation offer applies to your street or area.
Finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. The installation team behind London Solar acts as a credit broker, not a lender. Asking about payment options is not a finance application and will not touch your credit file.
Battery storage can move daytime solar into the evening.
More London households now spend part of the week at home during the day, and plenty still commute. Either way, the panels peak around midday, and a battery keeps that output for the hours when the cooker, lights and screens are all on.
- Home some days, out on others.Capacity is sized to the pattern across a week, not a single day.
- Tight on space.A garage, cupboard or utility space often has to do, so position and size are agreed at the survey.

Different roofs, different panel counts. The right system is the one that fits the property in front of you.
Figures are the estimated first-year benefit calculated for each customer's own system at the time of installation, based on MCS-standard assessment methodology. They are estimates, not guarantees, so actual savings vary with household usage, weather and electricity prices.
Across Greater London, borough by borough.
Outer London boroughs, with their semis and detached houses, account for most of our work, but we also install in Inner London, where terraces, flats and conservation areas call for extra care. Your postcode, added to a request, lets us confirm coverage for your street.
From a roof check to a decision.
Describe the home
Tell us about the roof, its ownership and the household's electricity habits.
Roof check
We look at space, shade, access and ownership, and may ask a question or two.
Survey, then a design
A surveyor visits, then you receive a layout, expected output, warranties and payment routes.
You decide
Asking agrees nothing. If you go ahead, scaffolding goes up and the job takes a day or two.
Questions about London roofs.
Can solar work on a terraced house?
Frequently. Terrace roofs are compact, which puts more weight on the layout and the panel rating, but a slope facing south, east or west with limited shade can still carry a useful system. The roof check says honestly what yours can take.
Do I need freeholder permission?
Not if you own the freehold of a house, although planning rules continue to apply. Leasehold properties and flats usually involve the freeholder, because the lease often gives them a say over the roof, so consent has to be sought before a design is drawn.
How does neighbouring-building shade affect solar?
A tall building next door can darken a slope for part of the day, and the effect changes through the year. We model it, and where it matters we specify optimisers or microinverters, so each panel performs independently.
Can scaffolding or access make installation difficult?
It can. A narrow street, no front garden, or a rear roof you reach through the house, all change how the job is done. These are assessed at survey, so the plan and price take them into account.
Check your London roof
Describe the roof, say who owns it and how electricity gets used in the house, and we will check what the property could support.
Free, and no obligation to proceed. Asking about payment options is not a finance application and leaves your credit file alone.
Nothing is agreed by asking. If the roof seems workable, someone from the team might check access or ownership with you before your roof check is written up.
